Micro Laser Peels

WHAT IS MICRO LASER PEEL?

MLPs are a safe and precise way to rejuvenate sun damaged skin. MLP’s allow us to safely remove a thin layer of sun-damaged skin to significantly smooth out and improve skin texture.  The depth of the peel is set precisely to target and remove actinic keratoses (AKs) and skin roughening that leave your skin looking dull.  We tailor the depth of the peel based on your skin needs and your tolerance for downtime.  The more intense and deep the peel – the more extensive the correction – and the more the downtime.

When we remove the outer damaged skin cells this allows for controlled healing and resurfacing with fresh and healthy new skin cells.  The immediate result is smoother skin – the long term result is increased collagen production leaving your skin plumper, healthier and more robust.

What Can I Expect During The Treatment?

We will cleanse your skin and put topical freezing on your skin for 30-60 minutes prior to your MLP.  This makes your treatment more comfortable even at the deeper more therapeutic settings.
The actual MLP treatment session takes 20 to 30 minutes. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will have a red and frosty appearance. This is dehydrated skin that will peel away over the next few days. Your face will feel hot resembling that of sunburn.

We will provide you with your post- care kit and instructions before you go home.  You will need to be careful with your sun exposure until you are fully healed.

MLP’s are often referred to as the weekend peel given that the social downtime is 3 to 4 days depending on the depth of the peel. Your skin will look and feel hot, resembling a sunburn and it will peel for the first 1 to 3 days. By day 4 you simply look slightly sunburned. Within one week your skin begins to reap the benefits looking and feeling more lustrous and smooth.

What Side Effects Can I Expect?

Redness and slight facial swelling are common for 3-5 days after treatment.  You will be peeling so we will provide you with a post care kit with topicals to help soothe and protect your skin as it heals.  The first 1-2 days are more of a “messy red” appearance while you peel – after that, the new skin cells take over and by 3-4 days you are looking more like you’ve experienced a sunburn.  Within 5-7 days your skin starts looking lustrous and smooth.
